Gas Mixing Applications

Gas Analyzer Reference Standards

Gas Analyzer Reference Standards

Commercially available gas standards are used in many applications where a known gas mixture is required to create a baseline measurement value, calculate a specific calorific value, or determine other physical properties of a particular multi-gas blend. As an alternative to certified gas standards, a Fusion Flow Technologies MXM system running purified elemental gases can be a viable substitute. Stand alone Fusion Flow gas mixers like the MXM-SA employ highly accurate Alicat Scientific mass flow controllers, each with their own NIST traceable certificates. The proprietary MixModule brain unit will keep track of each gas flowed in real time, and make continuous self-evaluations against user-settable boundaries to ensure a proper blend is being created (with the assumption that the MFCs are within calibration specifications). For additional 3rd party validation on binary gas mixtures, an optional speed of sound gas analyzer can be connected as a secondary reference, also with the ability to shut down the mixing process based on its own limit settings.
